Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions forest and land owners ask most often. Cannot find yours? Call us and we will answer.
About selling
Can you quote a forest price over the phone?
No, and not every buyer is honest about that. We only give a price after receiving the cadastral number and inspecting the forest: only then is the offer based on real data rather than a guess. The inspection and consultation are free.
How much does a forest valuation cost?
Nothing. The register check, the site visit and the consultation are free, and you are under no obligation to sell.
Can I sell only part of the forest, or only the felling rights?
Yes. We buy whole plots with land, and we also buy only the timber felling rights (forest for felling) when you want to keep the land. We will help you work out which option is better for you.
How quickly do I get paid?
The full amount is transferred on the day the contract is signed at the notary. From agreeing a price to signing usually takes 1–2 weeks, depending on documents and notary availability.
Do you buy inherited forest with several co-owners?
Yes. We have experience with inheritance cases and shared ownership. We will explain which consents are needed and help collect them.
Which regions do you buy in?
All of Lithuania. Most of our purchases are in Šiauliai, Panevėžys, Telšiai and Kaunas counties, where we can visit a plot within a day or two.
Can I sell my forest if I live abroad?
Yes. The transaction can be completed through an authorised representative, with the power of attorney certified at a Lithuanian consulate or by a foreign notary with an apostille. We coordinate documents by email.
Do you come to inspect the forest?
Yes, if the preliminary valuation shows the plot is of interest to us. The inspection is free and you do not need to be present.
Price and payment
How do you set the price?
Based on standing volume, species mix, assortment structure, access, restrictions and land value. We give the price in writing and explain what it is made of.
Why do you not quote a price over the phone?
Because without the cadastral number and an inspection it would be a guess. The cadastral number shows the plot boundaries, group and restrictions; the site visit shows the condition of the stand and the access. Only then can we make an offer we will stand by.
Do you pay in cash?
No. We pay by bank transfer at the notary, often through the notary’s escrow account. It is safer for both sides and complies with anti-money-laundering rules.
Who pays the notary?
Usually the buyer, that is us. The terms are agreed in the contract before the notary appointment.
Can I negotiate?
Yes. If you have another offer, tell us. We will explain why our price is what it is and improve it where we can.
How long is an offer valid?
Usually 30 days. The timber market moves, so after that we revisit the price.
Documents and legal questions
Which documents do I need?
An identity document and proof of ownership. The notary obtains register extracts directly. Where applicable, spouse and co-owner consents.
The inheritance is not yet formalised. Can I sell?
You first need a certificate of inheritance from a notary. We will explain the quickest way, and the sale can be arranged in advance.
What is a pre-emption right?
The law gives certain persons, such as co-owners, priority to buy forest or land being sold at the same price. The notary sends notifications, and if no one exercises the right within the set period the transaction is certified.
Do you use preliminary agreements?
Only if you want one, for example while an inheritance is being formalised. Our preliminary agreements contain no penalties for the owner.
Can I sell part of a plot?
Yes, after division and cadastral survey. We will help assess whether it makes economic sense.
Land
Do you buy agricultural land?
Yes: arable land, meadows, abandoned and mixed plots, especially those bordering forest.
Do you buy abandoned land overgrown with scrub?
Yes. Such plots often carry natural forest, which we value as timber.
Can the land purpose be changed to forest?
In some cases yes, if the land is overgrown with forest and meets the requirements. It is a separate procedure we can discuss.
Biofuel and firewood
What biofuel raw material do you buy?
Logging residues (branches, tops), brushwood, low-grade and damaged wood, wood from orchard and homestead clearing. We buy from private persons, farmers, companies and forest owners and collect with our own transport.
How much do firewood logs cost?
From 40 € per stacked cubic metre. We sell birch, black alder and grey alder and deliver in 30 m³ loads in Šiauliai county, Biržai and Pasvalys.
Can I order a smaller quantity of firewood?
We deliver full loads of 30 stacked cubic metres because that is cheapest. You can share a smaller quantity with a neighbour and we deliver to one address.
Harvesting and timber
Can I sell only the mature trees and keep the rest?
Yes, if the felling rules and forest group allow it. In that case we buy the felling rights for a specific area.
Who obtains the felling permit?
The owner or we, under a power of attorney. Usually we do it to save you time.
Do you clean up the site after harvesting?
Yes. Logging residues are handled as required, and roads are left in the same condition as before or better.
