Forest harvesting works
Professional harvesting works from preparing the forest for felling to forwarding and site clean-up. We also buy felling rights and timber.
Forest harvesting works cover the whole felling cycle: marking the felling area and obtaining permits, felling, forwarding the timber to the roadside, haulage and cleaning up the site. UAB Motren carries out these works with its own machinery and crew, so we are responsible for the result from start to finish.

A forest owner usually needs a result rather than a single service: a harvested and tidied area and money for the timber. So we offer the full cycle, or only the works that are missing.

We buy forest for felling
Suitable when you want to keep the land for your children, but the mature stand is ready for harvest or has been damaged by wind or pests. You sell only the right to fell the timber; the land and the regenerating forest stay yours.

Timber purchase
We buy roundwood at roadside or at an intermediate yard. We work with private owners and other forestry companies.

Common questions
About harvesting
Is a permit needed to fell forest?
Final fellings and most other fellings need a permit issued by the State Forest Service. Sanitary fellings may only require notification. We take care of the permit.
Can you do only part of the work, for example only haulage?
Yes. Owners often fell themselves and leave the forwarding and haulage to us. Scope and price are agreed in advance.
Who replants the forest after harvesting?
Under the Forest Law a clear-cut area must be regenerated within 3 years. When felling rights are sold this duty stays with the landowner, but we can carry out the regeneration as a service.
How is the timber volume determined?
By measurement at roadside or at the buyer’s yard with both parties present. Volumes are recorded on delivery notes, which you also receive.
What happens to the logging residues?
Branches, tops and low-grade wood are bought as biofuel raw material and chipped. The site is left tidy and you are paid for the residues as well.
